Minneapolis Public Library

The building was designed by Cesar Pelli. It opened to the public in 2006 and features a host of energy-efficient measures, including a roof garden and substantial daylight.

Collections include local and national book artists; hundreds of books, tracts, speeches, pamphlets and manuscripts on abolition and slavery; and first editions of the works of Mark Twain, Emily Dickinson, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Oliver Wendell Holmes, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Herman Melville, Henry David Thoreau, Harriet Beecher Stowe.
