about the literary tourist

Nigel Beale, THE LITERARY TOURIST, works with tourism marketing officials and visitor experience executives to promote tourism and to help develop new visitor experiences.

He promotes cities as literary destinations by visiting local literary attractions, participating in literary events and activities, and interviewing local authors, booksellers, librarians, bibliophiles, tourism spokespeople and others. He also conducts LITERARY TOURIST CITY AUDITS.

⁋ His articles appear in various travel and book-related publications, and his blog posts, photographs and audio interviews are posted on this website. The interviews are aired as part of a popular podcast he hosts called THE BIBLIO FILE.

⁋ His City Audits involve researching and compiling inventories of literary destinations, activities and events in select cities. Evaluation and recommendations are designed to assist tourism officials in developing new and/or improved visitor experiences, and in attracting MORE LITERARY TOURISTS to their destinations.
